Pandamania - Vacation Bible School was held June 20-24, 2011. Throughout the week, the children were actively engaged in learning how God listens, watches over, gives good gifts, and loves them no matter what. The Bible story, craft, games, movie time, and snacks correlated with the daily theme. A Bible story highlight was climbing into a fishy smelling ―whale‖ to experience how Jonah felt in the belly of the whale. God watches over and listens regardless of the location or circumstance!
This year 64 children were enrolled in VBS with an average attendance of 53 children. We once again utilized the church van to transport children from the Grantsville and Salisbury areas. Twenty two children were able to come to VBS because transportation was provided. The van has been such an asset to making VBS more of an outreach to the surrounding communities. We are so thankful to those who made it possible and volunteered their time each day to transport these children to our church.
Our offering this year totaled $355.31 and was given to World Vision to help make child friendly spac-es in areas struck by natural disasters, etc. These child friendly areas not only provide a safe place for children to play and learn but also provide adequate hygiene and counseling services for the children.
Despite a break-in during the week of VBS, God prevailed and many were able to hear God’s word through song, stories, daily interactions with VBS staff, and many fun activities. We, as a committee (Rachel Rohrer, Melissa Easton, Rhonda Maust), would like to thank the numerous individuals who helped make VBS a success. We are so thankful for the volunteers who infused creativity, love, and enthusiasm into VBS. We could not have done it without the help of the decorating committee, worship, crew and station leaders. Just as important was the prayer team that canvassed the VBS team and children with prayer before, during, and after VBS. Their presence at the church as well as the many prayers they, and the congregation, made on behalf of VBS was appreciated beyond words. Thank you to the congregation for the many ways you showed your sup-port and helping to share the love of Jesus and His word to so many children.
